Life's a pitch: Feedback and evaluation

Feedback
Each group received feedback as a collective on the presentation of the idea, the idea itself and general improvements that could be made.

Positives:

  • presentation was interesting and grabbed attention
  • well explained idea
  • the video was a good way to show in real time the idea which gives it the potential to sell as opposed to a theoretical presentation

Negatives:
  • consider a back up as it is solely reliant on the one solution
  • back up idea with facts or possible statistics on phone use of the target market
  • the pitch was slightly under time and needed more awareness of potential problems

Evaluation

This brief overall was successful as the outcome shows a way in which a way finding system could be used within the building of LAU, taking into consideration the new building, the need to adapt and also the technological advances that may happen over the next 10 years. This brief enabled me the opportunity to work with people I have not worked with before and this was a positive as we discovered that we all had different strengths in terms of design. The decision to have a Wednesday as the day to work on this project ensured that each week we all produced the work needed for the next meeting so that it could progress without any problem. The contact outside of the studio between each of us was also well organised as we set up a Facebook chat so that ideas could continue to be discussed with the assurance that we were all developing the ideas in the same visual style. Having a group to discuss ideas with also taught me how to step away from the obvious and be more confident in taking an option that may be a little more risky. This brief did not have many limitations which was something that as a group we eventually established the confidence to make the most of. Although the reliance of others when designing can be a positive, it also caused a few problem when someone in the group did not attend the meetings, contribute to the idea and then did not present with us. This meant that the work that was not originally delegated to certain people had to be split evenly between those who remained so that the overall design could be completed on time. Despite this, our group dynamic between the rest of us was strong which lead to us all presenting the idea together whereas other of groups only had one or two members presenting the ideas. In conclusion, the design shows a professional outcome that could be used by LAU as a way finding system for vistors and it would successfully work and easily direct them to all of the departments within the building.
