Collaborative project evaluation - Teatime ident

The final outcome shows a considered concept which has effectively fed into the visual style, taking the vibrant colour palette associated with biscuit packaging and applying it across all of the graphic outcomes. Taking the one chain reaction of the domino effect and concentrating solely on this aesthetically worked well and when the videos were edited together it flowed really well as an ident. The purpose of the zine was to then conceptually represent the concept upon a quick glance which I think is instantly achieved by the title page of ‘teatime’.

The decision to hire the photography equipment, lighting and studio space lead to a professional outcome that upon feedback would be of a standard to be used on a TV channel. The final ident was successful in the sense that it would be appropriate to show before any TV show on the channel as it based on the concept of a tea break, rather than picking up on characteristics from a particular TV show. 

This project demonstrated the positive side of collaboration in that we managed to develop a large body of work in a very short frame of time, soothing that would not have been achievable individually. As a group we effectively came up with an abundance of ideas and felt confident enough to come to a conclusive decision that we all agreed on very easily. The delegation of tasks within the project was a good idea, although I would say that by editing the two videos I did end up with a slightly larger body of work.  

The behind the scenes video received a good reaction when presenting, people feeding back to us that it was humorous and enjoyable to watch. This was an enjoyable element to produce and as a progression I am likely to try and develop more of these in future projects.

With more time and ability to develop this project further we discussed the challenge of trying to introduce more mechanisms other than the domino effect to show the full exploration of the Rube Goldberg Machine. There is also opportunity for a series to be made, taking different foods that we may commonly associate with a break and then changing the mechanism used to complete the chain reaction.
